Gelli-Block Printing

Workshop with Pamela Porter

Gelli-Block – no press needed!

June 15-19, 2026

Limited to 8

Pam’s 2025 Clay Monotype class was so successful we have invited her back to introduce this great printing-press-free process.

Spend five creative days exploring a playful and approachable printmaking process developed by artist and creativity coach, Pam Porter. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll combine colorful Gelli Prints with simple block printing techniques—including carved linoleum blocks and rubber stamps—to create a set of striking layered prints. We’ll work small, using 5″ x 7″ Gelli plates. Working at this scale makes it easy to try new ideas, stay loose, and build momentum without feeling overwhelmed. It’s a great size for exploring color, shape, and pattern—and for creating finished prints that can be transformed into art cards.

We’ll begin with Gelli printing: rolling acrylic paint onto gelatin plates, experimenting with textures and stencils, and pulling one-of-a-kind background prints. Then we’ll shift into block printing—carving your own stamps and linocuts to print on top of your Gelli prints using black ink. This layered method, which Pam developed and has refined over the years, is intuitive, freeing, and full of creative surprises.

By the end of the week, you’ll leave with a beautiful collection of layered prints, each one mounted on blank cards—ready to send, frame, or keep. This class is perfect for anyone looking to reconnect with their creative flow in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Pam is the creator of Gelli-Block Printing, a playful process that blends the vibrant layers of Gelli prints with the bold clarity of block printing. Her 30+ years of experience with Clay Printing, a richly layered and tactile medium, naturally flowed into this newer work and inspired her to develop a more spontaneous approach. Gelli-Block Printing is highly accessible—welcoming to beginners yet engaging for experienced artists—and reflects Pam’s commitment as both an educator and Certified Professional Life Coach to helping others tap into their creativity. From her Colorado studio, she continues to create, exhibit, and teach workshops that combine solid instruction with a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere where participants can explore freely and connect with their artistic potential.
